Liquor Commission hearing dates

Under the Liquor Act 2019, the Liquor Commission has discretion to conduct a hearing in relation to any matter on which it is to make a decision.

The Liquor Commission has broad powers to determine how the hearing will be conducted, including the power to require a person to appear before it to give evidence on oath.

The Liquor Commission can determine to conduct a hearing, or part of a hearing, in private in certain circumstances or by way of written submissions only.

Public notice – COVID-19 measures

In response to the relaxation of COVID-19 measures, the Liquor Commission has determined to resume the conduct of public hearings unless it determines that conducting a public hearing is not appropriate, as provided for under section 21(2) of the Liquor Act 2019.

To reduce the number of possible people in waiting areas, persons are encouraged to telephone 08 8999 1800 and provide their name and a contact number to be called immediately ahead of required attendance.

With sufficient notice, the commission can arrange for appearance by audio visual link, telephone or attendance in person provided that room capacity is not exceeded. To make arrangements, email liquor.commission@nt.gov.au.
