Groote Archipelago Regional Council elections

Elections for the newly constituted Groote Archipelago Regional Council election have been postponed from 26 October 2024 to 15 March 2025.

The postponement will allow for further consultation, as requested by Anindilyakwa leaders and community members, to determine a fair and inclusive ward structure.

Discussions will focus on how many wards should be established, their boundaries, naming of the wards and the number of Councillors to represent each ward effectively.

The consultation schedule is listed below, and the community is encouraged to attend:

Monday, 11 November 2024:

• Bartalumba Bay & Little Paradise: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
• Emerald River: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Angurugu GEAT Building: 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Tuesday, 12 November 2024:

• Milyakburra: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Wednesday, 13 November 2024:

• Umbakumba Mikbamurra Store: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
• Four Mile Outstation: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
