Northern Australia’s largest resource industry conference and exhibition, NT Resources Week is kicking off in Darwin today.

The two-day event is a must for anyone doing resources related business in the Territory and brings together the major players in the sector to discuss the Territory’s competitive advantage.

Run in partnership with the Northern Territory Government, NT Resources Week brings together key players in the industry, connecting attendees in mining, exploration, engineering, oil and gas and environmental management.

The Northern Territory government is driving economic investment and maximising resource exploration with over 20 mining projects working towards a Final Investment Decision with a combined value of over $7 billion and potential to create over 5,000 construction jobs and 4,000 ongoing jobs.

In the 2019-20 financial year, the mining sector employed over 4,400 people directly and the total value of mineral production in the Northern Territory was $4.3 billion.

While in the 2021 calendar year, mineral exploration expenditure in the NT was $153.4 million, up 38 per cent on the figure of $110.8 million for 2020. The highest annual figure since 2011.

NT Resources Week will also explore key milestone projects such as the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct and SunCable’s Australia-Asia Power Link.
