Making Katherine Hot Springs more accessible
The iconic Katherine Hot Springs precinct is now more accessible with recent upgrades to the carpark including three designated disabled parking spaces and two emergency vehicle spaces.
The work was carried out by the Katherine Town Council with funding from the NT Government’s 2020-2021 Local Government Priority Infrastructure Fund.
The new car parking upgrade provides formalised parking for 54 vehicles, and addresses and improves local traffic management.
Katherine Town Council have made substantial improvements to enhance the visitor experience to the Hot Springs precinct in recent years with improved access ramps, terraced landscaping and irrigation, shaded lawns and grassed areas and the iconic turtle themed children’s playground.
The Northern Territory Government provided over $200 000 for the car park works.
